Appliance Moving

Refrigerators, washers, dryers, ranges, and freezers moved within your home or to a new one across the Bay Area, strapped to a dolly and kept upright the whole way.

Overview

Appliance movers for fridges, washers, and dryers

Appliances are heavy for their size, and the weight sits in awkward places: the compressor at the bottom of a fridge, the drum and counterweight inside a front-load washer. They’re also the items most likely to scrape a floor or gouge a doorframe on the way out. We strap them to a dolly, keep refrigerators upright, protect the floors and doorways, and plan the route through the kitchen or laundry room before we lift.

Most of the prep happens before we arrive, and it’s worth doing a day ahead. Empty and defrost the fridge and freezer and wipe them dry so nothing leaks in the truck. Front-load washers should have their shipping bolts put back in if you still have them, which keeps the drum from swinging in transit. Water lines should be shut off and disconnected, and a gas dryer or range needs its gas line shut off and disconnected by a qualified person, then reconnected the same way at the new home.

Bought a new appliance and need it brought home from the store? That’s furniture and single-item delivery.

FAQ

Appliance moving questions, answered

Can a refrigerator be moved lying down?+

It’s best kept upright. Laying a fridge on its side can let compressor oil drift into the cooling lines. If it has to go on its side for a short stretch, stand it upright for a while before plugging it back in. Your manual will say how long.

Do I need to empty and defrost my fridge?+

Yes. Empty it, unplug it the day before so the freezer can defrost, and wipe up the water. A fridge with food or ice inside is heavier, and it leaks in the truck.

Who disconnects the gas and water lines?+

Gas lines should be shut off and disconnected by a qualified person, such as a plumber or your gas utility, and reconnected the same way at the new home. Water lines for a fridge or washer should be shut off and drained before move day. Have the appliance ready to move when the crew arrives, and we’ll handle the lifting.

How do you move a washer and dryer up or down stairs?+

Strapped to a dolly and taken one step at a time, with enough crew to control the weight on the way down. Front-loaders are usually the heavier of the two. Tell us the number of flights and whether there’s a landing or a turn when you book.

Can you move an appliance within my house?+

Yes. A fridge to the garage or a washer to a new laundry room is a normal job with no truck needed, only a crew, a dolly, and floor protection along the route.

How is appliance moving priced?+

By crew size and hours, like our other local work. Stairs, the distance from the truck to the door, and how many appliances are going are what change the number. Send the details and the quote comes back in writing.
