Senior Moving

Moving from a longtime family home to a smaller place, a senior community, or closer to family. We plan around the new floor plan and the move-in window, and set up the bed and the essentials before we leave.

Overview

Senior movers for downsizing and senior community moves

Most senior moves are downsizing moves. Decades in one house go into a one-bedroom apartment or an assisted living suite, so the first question is what’s going. Tell us, or send a floor plan of the new place if the community provides one, and the crew loads only the pieces that are moving. Everything else stays put for the family to decide on later.

Senior communities and apartment buildings usually set move-in windows, elevator reservations, and rules about where a truck can park, and we work within them. Often a son or daughter is coordinating from out of town. That’s normal, and the written quote can go to whoever is handling the move.

Packing takes longest on a downsizing move, and many families hand it off. Our packing services cover packing before the move and unpacking after, so the kitchen and bedroom are usable the first night. Pieces going to a family member’s home instead can often be added as an extra stop on the same move.

How it works

How a senior move works

  1. 1

    Tell us what’s moving

Share both addresses, the move date, and what’s going to the new place. A floor plan helps if the community has one.

  2. 2

    Get a written quote

Crew size, hours, and any packing in writing, so the family knows the cost before move day.

  3. 3

    Pack & move

The crew packs if you’ve asked, protects both homes, and moves only what’s on the list.

  4. 4

    Set up the new place

Furniture goes where the floor plan says, the bed is put back together, and boxes land in the right rooms.

FAQ

Senior moving questions, answered

How far ahead should we book a senior move?+

One to two weeks is usually enough for a local move. If the date is set by a community’s move-in day, book as soon as you have it. We can also move on short notice when crews are available.

Can you work from the new community’s floor plan?+

Yes. Send it when you book. Knowing the room sizes ahead of time means only the furniture that fits gets loaded, and each piece goes straight to its spot at the new place.

Can you pack for a senior move?+

Yes. Packing can be added to any senior move, for the whole home or only the kitchen and the fragile things. Our packing services page covers what’s included.

What happens to the furniture that isn’t moving?+

It stays where it is unless you tell us otherwise. Pieces going to family members can often be added as extra stops on the same move. What happens to the rest is up to the family.

Can a family member arrange the move from out of town?+

Yes. Whoever is coordinating can request the quote, approve it, and be our contact. It helps to have someone on site on move day to point out what’s going and where it goes, whether that’s the person moving, a family member, or a friend.

How is a senior move priced?+

Like our other local moves, by crew size and hours, with packing and unpacking added based on what you need. Long-distance moves are based on weight and distance. It all goes in a written quote before move day.
