First, call for movers — early

The single most important step is booking your crew as early in the day as possible. Same-day availability depends on crews being open, and morning is when your odds are best. Have your basics ready when you call: where you’re moving from and to, your home size, and anything heavy or tricky. The faster you can describe the job, the faster we can quote it and roll.

If today is full, a next-day or early-morning slot is the next best thing — and far less stressful than trying to do it all yourself.

Pack the triage way

With no time for a perfect pack, work in priority order. Grab a “first night” bag first — medications, chargers, documents, a change of clothes, toiletries. Then pack by room, fastest rooms first, and don’t agonize over organization. Soft items like clothes, linens, and towels can go in bags and double as padding.

• Use what you have — suitcases, bins, laundry baskets, sturdy bags
• Leave clothes in dresser drawers; move drawers as-is where you can
• Move hanging clothes on the rod in large bags
• Label or color-code rooms so unloading is fast

Set aside what not to move

Pull out valuables, important documents, and irreplaceable items to carry yourself, and set aside anything you don’t want on the truck. Note that movers can’t take hazardous items like propane tanks, fuels, or other flammables, so plan to handle those separately.

Consider labor-only help

If you’ve already rented a truck or a moving container, you don’t need a full-service move — you can hire a crew for labor-only loading or unloading. It’s often the fastest, most affordable way to get the heavy lifting done on short notice while keeping the truck you already booked.

Booking a same-day move

When you call, the more flexible and prepared you are, the better.
